One of the eternal questions we all ask ourselves is where does the soul go when we dream? Does it come with us into the dream world or stays behind in our body while our mind roams through the dreamland?
In order to answer these questions we must first understand that the Native Americans believe we have more than one soul, three of them to be exact. The 1st is the ego-soul, which is embodied in the breath, the second is the body-soul, which gives the body energy and life force during the waking state and then we have the free-soul and this is the soul that leaves the body during dreams and trances. This means that according to their belief, one part of our soul, the free-soul, explores the dream realm alongside the brain, while the other two aspects remain attached to the body.
THE DREAM WORLD
“Your soul dreams those dreams; not your body, not your mind. Those dreams come true. The soul travels all over the world when you dream.”
According to them, part of our soul disconnects from our body and goes into the dream realm where it can communicate with other souls, humans and animals alike. To them, the dream world is just as real as the physical world and should be regarded as such.
They even believed that what happens in the dream world can have consequences in the waking life, so if someone got injured in their dreams they would receive treatment when thy wake up. We all have spirit guides which communicate with us through our dreams; we just need to know how to interpret the signs. Naïve Americans have the practice to talk to their Elders when they wake up from a dream journey and tell them about their dreams so that they can help interpret them. In this way they can understand what their spirit guides are trying to say and understand their message.
Just as we seek professional help when we come across a problem in real life, Native Americans seek expert help with the things they encounter in the dream world.
LOOKING AT DREAMS IN A NEW LIGHT
The dream world is so much more than just a place where we go when we dream. It’s an astral plane where our souls travel every night for self-exploration and growth. Dreams are no joke, and should not to be taken lightly. It’s the only place where our spirit guides can communicate with us and receive directions for the future.
Back to the initial question, where do our souls go when we dream? As we already said, a part of our soul goes to the dream world to receive guidance from our spirit guides while the other two parts remain in our body. This means that you shouldn’t take your dreams so lightly and you should pay attention to them more. Try to interpret them and understand what they mean if you want to have a happier and fulfilled life. They may also provide answers to questions you’ve long been asking yourself.
